  The Ever-Changing Song Book

  the songs in the old brown song book were way better than these new ones.

  had they not changed the songs, i may never have left (halfway joking).

  they gave no feeling, no soul (but of course there's no such thing as soul or whatever)!

  Generally the new songs reflect a shift away from praising God and Jesus, towards self-adulation, behavioral modification and propagandistic appeal to emotions.

  Stupid, stupid nonsense in the October JW broadcast

  so in the october jw broadcast, there is a "morning worship" segment in which g. jackson goes to great lengths to explain how the term "those taking the lead" are not "leaders".. the terms are exactly equivalent, of course, but jackson, with a wink & smirk, pats himself on the back for his own cleverness on how different they really are.it's just so bizarrely absurd.. imagine if such tortured reasoning were applied to other areas..... -------------------------------------.

  restaurant manager: i'm sorry, the only position we have open is for dishwasher.

  applicant: that's insulting!

  i recall seeing a 9 yo girl baptised..

  The current policy represents a 180-degree volte-face from JW thinking in the 50s/60s.

  I clearly recall a talk on baptism encouraging any young JW who harbored misgivings for having been baptized too young to really appreciate the consequences, or to please his/her parents, to consider getting re-baptized.

  What's Happening in Italy? Bethel Relocating Departments to Bologna?

  according to some websites, it appears there's going to be a transferral of several departments out of rome and to imola (bologna) in november, along with the sale of some property in the capital.. are they downsizing?

  anyone know what's going on?.

  tired of listening to your local elders giving the "special" talk ever year after the memorial?

  well don't worry, as of next year we will be spicing things up for your enjoyment.. not only will we be having the talk before the memorial (i know, wild huh), but we will be treating you to the talk via video starring our famous speakers from bethel so you can see how a talk should be given (after all bethel does boast the best speakers in any country, right?!).

  Increased centralization of authority and an ever-diminishing sense of autonomy at the grass-roots level , reducing the role of locals in dispensing "spiritual food" in favor of video presentations from the Mother Ship, is bound to increase the growing sense of alienation in the ranks.
